Love Your Summer Art – Competition

Design is part of our genetic make-up. From the moment Peter Boizot teamed up with Enzo Apicella in the 60s to create our restaurant design vision, having unique pieces of art on our walls across the UK, to Peter Blake developing unique murals on our walls – the arts has inspired us from day one.

This Summer we wanted to share our love of art by teaming up with to provide savings on artworks for your home. You really need to check out their vast catalogue of artworks; including pop-art classics, black and white photography, scenic decorative – they have something to make your wall sparkle.

Our restaurant design

In recent months we have opened or transformed some exciting PizzaExpress restaurants around the world.

The thing that really brings our restaurants to life is the local story or significance of a building that we inhabit. From ex-town halls in Biggleswade and old Churches in Morningside – we love turning an old story and giving it new life.

We love being part of a local story and retelling it with the original artworks on the walls and keeping some of the riginal features, such as the organ in the Morningside restaurant below.

Do you have a PizzaExpress near you that tells an interesting story in its design?

Getting creative at home with Moshi Monsters

Being creative is at the core of who we are here at PizzaExpress. From the pizzas we make, to our ties with music and the arts. We feel there is something truly special about letting your imagination be free.

This is one of the reasons why we teamed up with Moshi Monsters – an online pet monster community – to encourage people to create Pizza Art.

Pizza Art? It’s pretty simple and quite cool – Pizza Art is where we encourage you (yes, it’s not just for kids!) to be creative with fresh ingredients and make characters on your pizza base. We then ask that you to upload your artwork to our Pizza Art page.

Below are some uploaded artworks, you can view the entire gallery here.

Please note: No monsters were harmed during the making of Pizza Art.

Luvli Pizza Art by Lily, 7 years old

Moshi Monsters helped us out by making pizzas that look like our favourite Monsters (Diavlo, Luvli and Poppet). You can now make some Moshi Monsters at home and eat them too!

We love the idea of getting people, especially kids, into fresh ingredients by being creative and experimenting with cooking at home.

You too can be part of the action. For more information about our Pizza Art initiative visit our Pizza Art homepage.

Celebrate the sun and win our new Leggera swimsuit

Isn’t it funny, we get several days of sunshine and we (kind of) forget about the lousy weather we have been experiencing this summer. Well, we have anyway.

We’ve even gone so far as to launch our new Leggera swimsuit. That’s right, our pizzas that are under 500 calories with the hole in the middle now have their very own swimsuit – modelled below by Jodie Kidd.

To celebrate this turn of weather – we have decided to give away some limited edition Leggera swimsuits to our fans.

The PizzaExpress Leggera swimsuit will be sold exclusively online at Debenhams from August.

Sorry guys, this comp is now closed. Thanks to all those who entered.
Win one of 10 Leggera swimsuits:
To win, simply go to Twitter, follow @pizzaexpress and @debenems and Tweet the following message “RT & follow @pizzaexpress and @Debenhams to #win a @pizzaexpress Leggera swimsuit modelled by Jodie Kidd”

We are getting excited about Spring

With the start of Spring here, we are starting to get excited about the prospect of some sunshine in our lives.

We also love this time of year because everyone talks about longer days and more importantly – beach holidays.

Who out there cannot wait to head to the water? Same here. We have gone so far to design a swimsuit, modelled here by one of our fans Jodie Kidd.
As you can see the swimsuit has a hole in the middle, just like our Leggera pizzas.

We may make these swimsuit available if enough people ‘Like’ it on our Facebook page.

Make sure you let us know what you think by clicking here.

A little Halloween treat for your little monsters…

Today we have made our Halloween Dough Balls available for our Piccolo menus up until 31st October.

The idea of the Halloween Dough Balls all came about when Antenor, one of our pizzaiolos, made some for our team and we posted a photo on Facebook. The instant reaction from our community made our collective light globes flicker… We should release these pumpkins! But we should double check with our Facebook community first.

In the meantime we quickly passed along our little trick to all our restaurants across the country just in time for Halloween.

We really hope your little monsters enjoy our little treat.

Dough balls are forever…

Last week we renovated our Bristol restaurant in Berkeley Square and one of the cool pieces that we introduced was an artwork paying respect to one of the countries great contemporary artists, Damien Hirst.

What better way to pay homage then to reincarnate the ‘For The Love of God’, or, that skull, by substituting the diamonds with our famous jewels, Dough Balls.

Leading this tongue in cheek approach was PizzaExpress’ Head of Design, Mark Standing, “our design team are huge fans of Damien Hirst so we’re delighted to be able to pay a light hearted homage to him when they refurbished the PizzaExpress restaurant in Damien’s birth place of Bristol.”

Make sure you drop in and see it for yourself at 31 Berkeley Square, Bristol BS8 1HP
